A charity is appealing to the district’s residents to embrace its latest campaign.

Make a Difference Day, this year on October 27, is an annual awareness day celebrating the contribution of local people to their communities and encouraging others to become involved.

Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service is urging residents to donate unwanted wool or items they have knitted themselves towards this year’s countywide Knit a Difference campaign.

Donations, which will go to local hospitals and hospices, can be dropped off at the volunteer centre in Heybridge or at One Place in Burnham or Southminster between October 22 and November 2.

A social knitting event is also taking place at Maldon Baptist Church hall on October 26 from 10am to 2pm.
