Burnham: Pupils win wind farm scholarships
Five Burnham pupils have each won a £1,000 scholarship to fund their education past sixth form.
Ridgewind Ltd, the developers of the Middlewick Wind Farm in Southminster, have awarded the newly-established grants to five teenagers who finished at Ormiston Rivers Academy sixth form this year.
Bushra Abu-Helil, of Southminster, Nicola Lloyd, of Althorne, Joshua Pursey, of Steeple, Luke Hickford of Heybridge and Rachael Francis, of Mayland, were chosen to receive the grants.
The company is awarding the grants ahead of the wind farm construction to show commitment and support of the community.
RidgeWind’s Managing Director, Marjorie Glasgow, said: “RidgeWind believe strongly in supporting the local communities in which we operate."
