An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after he was involved in a crash with a van in Burnham.

An ambulance was called to Station Approach at around 3:30pm on Friday, when a paramedic treated the young lad for a suspected broken ankle.

He was then taken to Broomfield Hospital.

The driver of the white Ford Fiesta van, who stopped at the scene, had no insurance.

Eyewitnesses say they saw the young boy laying on the ground unable to get up.

Police are investigating the incident.
