Hundreds of new iPhone users across the country have no idea Maldon exists.
Apple’s flagship Maps application, launched last week to replace the established Google Maps, has bizarrely deleted Maldon off the map - leaving Heybridge in its place.
The geography nightmare has left the town and its streets visible but has it labelled as Heybridge.
According to the app, Heybridge has had a population explosion and is now the biggest town in the district.
Heybridge councillor Alan Cheshire was worried about how the mistake could impact on tourism in the area.
He said: “If we want people to come to Maldon and it is not on the map then it could create a problem."
