Maldon: Magpie makes unlikely family pet
When the Salt family found a featherless baby magpie on their doorstep, they never imagined it would survive.
But four months on, Maggie has been nursed back to health and has become a rather unconventional, yet much-loved, family pet.
Retained Maldon fire fighter Steven Salt of Essex Road, Maldon, said: “It looks like we have got him for good.
“We were expecting him to fly off, but he doesn’t seem to want to go."
