Burnham: Vicar's arts academy dream could be axed

Burnham: Vicar's arts academy dream could be axed Burnham: Vicar's arts academy dream could be axed

The plan for a performing arts academy in Burnham could be axed after the council only awarded the project £5,000.

Town councillors decided at this week’s council meeting that only a fifth of their £25,000 special projects grant should be given to fund the academy.

The music hub for performance and tuition is thought to cost between £25,000 and £26,000 to be properly set up.

Councillors were set to decide at the meeting whether to spend the money on a specialist road sweeping device, the performing arts academy or on a consultant to fight off unpopular development plans.

But it was decided that the grant, which was raised by the authority for unspecified special projects, would be split up.
