Heybridge: Police send helicopter to investigate football players Heybridge: Police send helicopter to investigate football players

Police scored an embarassing own goal as they sent their helicopter to investigate people playing football on a field.

They launched their large scale operation at Heybridge County Primary School, in Rowan Drive, after a concerned resident raised the alarm about trespassers.

It costs the Essex police helicopter around £700 to be airborne for an hour.

The helicopter, which had flown from Southend to investigate the football players, did not detect anything untoward.

Police on the ground checked with the caretaker of the school, who confirmed nothing was wrong.

They found that the only people in the area were the footballers playing next to the school.
