Maldon: Town blooming champions for sixth year
2:00pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in News By Emma Robinson
Mayor and Mayoress of Maldon, Peter and Jeanette Stilts, with members of the Blackwater U3A, Terri Hardcastle, Margaret Snowdon and Doreen Linton, and Anglia in Bloom judges Hazel Law and Sue Hacon.
Stunning Jubilee-themed flower displays have helped Maldon win the Silver Gilt award for the sixth year running in the Anglia in Bloom competition.
Judges for the competition, Hazel Law and Sue Hacon, cast their expert eyes over the winners of the Maldon in Bloom contest in July.
Today they announced they would be awarding Maldon the second place prize.
Bobbie Marchant, Chairman of the Maldon in Bloom working group, was not at all disappointed with not scooping the top gold prize.
She said: “I am delighted that the town has retained its Silver Gilt award for the sixth successive year."
