Maldon: Town councillors Wetherspoons plan
Determined residents have vowed to continue their fight against plans to open a national pub chain in Maldon, after town councillors backed the idea at a planning meeting this week.
The stance comes as JD Wetherspoon resubmitted its plans to transform the large former post office in High Street.
Town councillors decided at this week’s town council planning meeting that they were for the plans, as long as conditions would be made over the pub’s opening times and access to Butt Lane.
The final decision will be made by Maldon District Council .
