Maldon: Mystery business backs 'No to Tesco' campaign
A mystery business is backing the campaign to stop The Cups pub being turned into a Tesco Express.
A business based in Maldon, who has wished to remain anonymous, has funded a residents leafleting scheme to oppose the plans.
Bob Wyness, 64, of Mill Road, a forerunner of the campaign, has had 700 “Say no to Tesco” posters printers to be distributed in Maldon homes.
The cost of the posters, estimated to be around £100, has been covered by the local business.
Over 20 volunteers against the plans have rallied together to distribute them.
They encourage people to put them up in their windows so passers-by can know their stance.
Mr Wyness said: “We are looking to reach as many people as possible.
“We are distributing them to all houses that will be affected and 100 more to those further afield."
