A special guest was on hand to give one of Maldon’s best-known annual events his blessing.
The Maldon Oyster Festival, designed to mark the start of the traditional oyster season, again drew dignitaries from across the county when it was staged at the Blue Boar, in Silver Street, on Friday.
Bishop of Bradwell , the Rt Rev John Wraw, blessed the renowned delicacy before 150 guests tucked in.
Organiser John Bunkell, who is stepping aside after this year’s event, was delighted to go out on a high.
