Maldon: Men attacked as they intervene in fight

A 23-year-old Maldon man was punched in the face and went to hospital after he tried to stop a fight in Colchester town centre.

A group of men attacked the man and a 19-year-old from Colchester in the High Street at about 3.15am on Wednesday, August 29.

The 23-year-old required hospital treatment to a cut lip. 

The 19-year-old, who was punched to the back of the head, did not go to hospital.

Investigating officer Pc Lee Kennedy said: "The assaults happened outside the Greggs shop in the High Street and the two victims were set upon by a group of other men.

"We want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or might know the suspects involved.”
