Police have charged a man in connection with a serious assault in Chelmsford earlier this month.

Nicky Bowers, 26, of Wigston Road, London, E13, was arrested on Monday, August 27, and later charged in connection with the assault on Saturday, August 11.

Bowers was charged with GBH and assault by beating and will appear before magistrates in Chelmsford today, Wednesday, August 29.

Police also arrested a 21-year-old man from Chelmsford on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 30.

Two men were injured in the incident in Hooga bar, Victoria Road, Chelmsford, at around 3.30am.

A 49-year-old man from Chelmsford received serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition in Queens Hospital, Romford. The other man received only minor injuries.
