Danbury: 30-tonne hay bale blaze
Fire crews received as many as 20 calls from the public to alert them to a hay blaze in Danbury.
Crews from Great Baddow and Chelmsford tackled the fire in the Main Road/Holts Lane area shortly after 9pm last night.
Fire fighters arrived on the scene to find 30 tonnes of hay well alight.
They used two hose reels to control flames and then left the incident with the farmer as a controlled burn with one appliance standing by through the night.
A relief appliance is set to take over this morning.
