Wickham Bishops: I'm the oldest in the village at 101 Wickham Bishops: I'm the oldest in the village at 101

A great grandmother is set to enjoy a tipple to celebrate her 101st birthday. Sylvia Blagrove, who is thought to be the oldest resident in Wickham Bishops, turns 101 today.

Mrs Blagrove, nicknamed Blobbins, will be celebrating with family and friends at the Green Man pub in Little Braxted this Saturday.

Her eldest son Gerry Blagrove, whom she lives with after leaving Oxfordshire, said: “I don’t know of anyone older than 101 in the village.

“She’s very agile.

“My father was an officer in the army, Major Blagrove, and she was an officer’s wife.”

Mrs Blagrove said her ripe old age was down to “good health, good friends and family, and being well looked after by her daughter-in-law, Wendy Blagrove”.
