Maldon district: Concern for future of fisheries

The future of two Maldon district fisheries is uncertain after bids were accepted on both.
Fisheries in Ricketts Mere, Ulting, and Chigborough, Heybridge, are in the process of being sold off to two separate parties.
The fisheries were among 20 sites put up for sale by Cemex Angling.
Legacy Angling had put together a bid to buy 12 of the lakes around the east and south east of England, but failed.
Norfolk-based Georgina Bradley said: “Now we’re really worried that the people who have spent years and years looking after these places and loving them will be ousted out."
