The family of Ryan Fleming are determined to remember the good times, despite still struggling to come to terms with his death.

Ryan, who was killed crossing the A414 in Maldon in January last year, would have celebrated his tenth birthday yesterday.

Grandmother Angeline Wright, 57, of Cedar Chase, Heybridge, who visited his headstone at Heybridge Cemetery, said: “It has destroyed the family, but we keep picking eachother up.

“We miss Ryan so much, but we’ve got good memories and no one can take those away. Those are what we’ve got to hold onto.”

Mum Melissa Rowe, 29, of Spital Road, Maldon, said: “He was a bouncy little boy. He loved his boxing, Arsenal and animals.

“We just miss him loads. Ryan's brother Sean has been struggling a bit, but that’s understandable.”
