Maldon: Baking success for charity

Maldon District Council’s housing staff organised a Jubilee themed cake sale and raffle which raised £400 for Cancer Research.

The kind-hearted staff made cakes and donated them for a raffle and cake sale, even dressing up for the occasion. 

David Williams, council chairman, said: “I was delighted when approached by the housing team to ask if I would draw the raffle, especially when told that they were raising money for one of my nominated charities. 

"The generosity shown is really overwhelming and I am sure that the charity will be delighted."

Staff at the council are no strangers to raising money for good causes as they hold regular dress down days and cake sales throughout the year and they also support the Maldon young carers’ Christmas party.
