Maldon: Barge match sure to draw the crowds
The Blackwater Barge Match will keep spectators captivated tomorrow.
Barges will be racing on the River Blackwater, starting and finishing at Osea Island.
Staysails will set off at 8.30am, followed by Senior Staysails at 8.45am and Bowsprits at 9am.
Smacks and Bawleys will set off at 9.15am.
All competitors are expected to arrive back in Maldon at about 4.30pm Prize giving will take place at the Queen's Head at 9.30pm.
There are various places along the riverside from which the progress of the barges can be seen, for example Stansgate, the sea wall near the Marconi Yacht Club, Stone, St Lawrence Bay and Bradwell.
