Cabbies and disabled children were overwhelmed by an “extremely warm welcome” from the people of Maldon.

The East London Cabbies Outing brought as many as 190 disabled children from east London to Maldon for a special day trip.

They drove their decorated cabs through the town and dined at Plume School before heading to Promenade Park for an afternoon’s entertainment.

The warm welcome by children, parents, teachers and shopkeepers of Maldon brought tears to the eyes of some drivers, according to event committee chairman Ken Flemwell.
