Maldon: Pupils create Garden of Remembrance

Maldon: Pupils create garden of remembrance Maldon: Pupils create garden of remembrance

Pupils have taken comfort in creating a Garden of Remembrance.

Twelve pupils, who have each lost a parent, have been working hard on a new garden at Plume School’s Mill Road campus.

Anna Davies, who is the school’s Ocean Centre behaviour and support manager, came up with the idea for a garden with her colleague Kim Smith, a behaviour support assistant.

Miss Davies said: “We were dealing with lots of children who have lost a parent and they were all feeling alone, so we came up with this idea to get them all together.

“It’s working really well and has helped remove that feeling of isolation.

“A lot of them didn’t realise they were in classes with others who had gone through a similar thing.

“The whole thing is also to remove the taboo of talking about death.”
