A FORMER professional musician turned vicar is pushing ahead plans to have a new performing arts academy in Burnham.

Rev. Dr. Jon Morgan, who toured the world as a folk singer and had a single reach gold in Australia, is spearheading a community project to get the people of Burnham playing and performing music together.

Rev Morgan, 54, was the principal of the Cambridge Academy of Music and Performing Arts for eight years before training to become a vicar.

He moved to Burnham a year ago to become vicar of the United Reformed Church.

Since then he has been campaigning to launch a local music centre.

He said: “I want to have a local hub for music performance and tuition in Burnham. Hopefully it will give people of all ages a safe and solid base to achieve what they want and dream of."

Go Rev Go!

Just make sure that there's a limit on the amount of acoustic guitars allowed at any one time. Town's full of folky hippies already! Probably why you decided to come here!
