Latchingdon: Villagers concern over crash road Latchingdon: Villagers concern over crash road

A motorcyclist died in a road crash on one of Latchingdon’s notoriously bad roads last week.

Michael Marshall, 60, of Fambridge Road, Maldon, was riding a blue Honda CBR on Burnham Road when he was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa just after midday on Thursday.

Burnham Road has been a worry for many residents over the years, with many requesting for the speed limit to be lowered.

Gill Winsor, 53, from Snoreham Gardens, Latchingdon, said: “Burnham Road is notorious for accidents. I think it’s because it is very bendy, there are lots of long bends and sharp bends.

“There’s no signs there warning how bendy the road is either. It always has been a very dangerous road and always will be unfortunately.

“Living in Latchingdon you hear sirens all the time going to an accident. There have been quite a few accidents here considering it is not a very big place.”
