Thanks to the Maldon U3A, an area that used to resemble wasteland on the corner of Fambridge Road and New Street has been transformed.
Maldon's gardening enthusiasts are going for gold in this year's Anglia In Bloom awards.
It has been six years since the town won the coveted award, and this year Maldon is on the right track after residents pulled out all the stops in the recent Maldon In Bloom contest.
MIB coordinator Caroline Hooper is appealing for residents to help the town win gold in the Anglia In Bloom competition when the judges visit on July 11.
She said: "If anyone sees any weeds, please pull them out.
"We will be showing the judges the best Maldon has to offer."
Last year, the town narrowly missed out on the gold award when it took home silver gilt.
