Latchingdon: Grandmother left frightened from company cash backlash
3:10pm Thursday 28th June 2012 in News By Emma Robinson
Daughter and churchwarden, Moir Gunfield, is angry over the state of the church path.
A grandmother was left so frightened she couldn’t leave her house after a con-artist tried to make her pay over £1000 to tarmac a church path when she agreed to pay just £18.
Churchwarden Nonnie Bridge, 65, from Lawlinge Road, Latchingdon, was contacted by an unknown company offering to tarmac Latchingdon Christ Church’s path for £18 last month.
She said: “They said they were working for the council and they told me they could tarmac the path for £18 the lot.
“Normally this sort of thing would have to go through the PCC but for just £18 I thought I could pay it myself.
“I thought they were being nice to do it cheap for a church.”
