Maldon: Lucy is named top charity volunteer
A Maldon woman who has raised thousands of pounds for the British Heart Foundation and overcome her own cardiac problems has been named the charity’s national volunteer of the year.
Lucy West, 34, of Rydal Drive, who spent her youth in and out of hospital struggling with supraventricular tachycardia - an occasional and uncontrollable rapid heart rate - raised £4,600 last year alone after tackling a 10,000ft sky dive and organising both a sponsored swim and a three and a half mile circular walk at Heybridge Basin.
