Hatfield Peverel: Police appeal after A12 crash chaos
Police have appealed for witnesses following a rush hour crash that caused long delays on the A12.
Officers were called at 5pm yesterday after a digger being carried on a low-loader lorry struck a bridge at Hatfield Peverel and fell on to the London-bound carriageway, blocking two lanes.
Traffic was able to pass the scene but the southbound carriageway was later fully closed while a structural survey was carried out on the bridge and again when the digger and lorry were recovered.
The road was clear by 10.30pm.
Officers are now investigating the crash and any witnesses or anyone with information about the circumstances leading to the collision should contact Sgt Colin Shead and Dunmow Road Policing Unit on 101.
