POLICE are hunting a man who is believed to have beaten, tasered and robbed a Gurka soldier outside a railway station.

Detectives are appearling for the public to help them find Simon James Smith, 27, following the attack near Southminster station at about 10pm on May 10.

The 49-year-old victim, from north Yorkshire, was at the station when he was approached, zapped with a small stun gun and robbed of his wallet.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital following the vicious attack.

Simon James Smith is described as being of slim build with short, dark hair.

An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault following the incident but has since been released from his bail without charge.
