A MAN was airlifted to hospital after being taken ill during a seal watching cruise.
Coastguards received a radio call just after 1pm today (Tuesday) from the Burnham ferry, Lady Essex, saying one of its passengers needed to be evacuated urgently after developing possible heart problems on board.
The launch boat, which is regularly used for seal watching trips, was out off the Buxey Sands when the man became ill.
It made its way back to the River Crouch where it was met by an RAF rescue helicopter. Burnham lifeboat was also called to the scene.
The man was then airlifted to Colchester General Hospital.
