THE Crouch Valley Line could be taken over the Government after National Express revealed it was struggling to pay off massive debts.
The Government announced this week it would take over the National Express East Coast Main Line between London and Edinburgh, raising questions about the future of the firm’s other franchises, including National Express East Anglia which runs the line from Southminster to London Liverpool Street.
However, National Express has said it believes that the Government has no grounds to take over its Essex franchises and would fight to keep them.
