AN art trail has opened to a rapturous reception.

The Burnham Art Trail was launched, at Burnham Museum on Saturday June 20, by the internationally acclaimed sculptor Glynis Barton.

Other dignitaries at the event included the very supportive mayor of Burnham Carole Noble and her colleagues on the town council as well as representatives from Essex County Council.

Art trail organiser Tracy Saunders said: “It was lovely and choc-a-bloc which was really good. With Riverfest as well the town was absolutely buzzing.

“There was an incredibly positive reaction and this is the best year we have had going by the first weekend.

“It is nice that people are getting involved and we are expecting over 800 people to the town or even more.

“Carole Noble is very supportive and the town council is incredibuly helpful not just financially but with advice and they put all the banners up in the town.”

The art trail will finish on Sunday June 28 having featured about 35 artists in 28 venues in and around the town.
