GET ready for the fifth annual Burnham Art Trail which promises to be bigger and better this year than ever before.

The line-up of artists, exhibitors and venues has just been announced and more than 35 displays will be on show around the town at numerous venues - with something for everyone from fine art and sculpture to silver craftwork, pottery and textiles.

The trail, from Saturday June 20 till Sunday June 28, forms part of the new Essex Summer of Art with established exhibitors returning alongside fresh new local talent.

And many of the displays this year are thought to be inspired by the local landscapes and sailing traditions in the town.

Venues in the town include studios, private gardens, the library, museum and information centre and visitors will even be able to take part of one display home with them.

Art trail spokesman Joanna Flack said: “This years’ visitors can take home part of ‘Recycling’, a textile installation on show at Burnham Library created by Tors Duce with the help of textile students from St Peter’s High School.”

A poetry and lyrics competition will also make up part of the trail as organisers join forces with Saint FM for ‘The Essence of Summer’ competition.

The best five songs will then feature at Riverfest - Burnham’s premier music festival - and the best five poems will be heard at a ‘Poetry and a Pint’ evening.

Abd if that was not enough the internationally renowned and Maldon born sculptor, John Doubleday, will be giving a lecture on his life and work.
