TEACHERS and pupils swapped clothes for a day at a Burnham primary school.
It has a been a busy few weeks at St Mary's Primary School in Marsh Road as youngsters have taken part in a number of activities.
School councillors came up with an unusual idea to raise money for new playground equipment - children dressed as teachers while members of staff donned school uniforms.
A school spokesman said the day was a great success, raising more than £200, and the pupils were even able to have a go at teaching their classmates.
Deputy headteacher Helen Vivian said, "This was a great idea that came directly from the children. We all had a lot of fun and I am sure that the children will enjoy playing with their new playground equipment."
The school council will now ask their peers' opinions about what to buy with the money.
Youngsters have also been entertained by a visit from kiteboarding champion, and former St Mary's pupil, Paul Vivian.
The 22-year-old, who also went to St Peter's High School, gave a talk on how he became involved in the sport one long hot summer when he saw an advert for a buggy in a local shop.
Since then he has taken part in charity races and his skills have earned him a place on the England team.
As well as taking part in charity races, his skills have earned him a place in the England team.
While at the school he also gave a kiteboarding demonstration on the school field.
Class teacher Pat Brown said "The children were encouraged to take up the challenge of trying new sports and activities. They had an interesting afternoon".
Six St Mary's children also recently attended an Essex County Council event to help plan schools for the future.
They gave their opinions of the features schools should have, and even designed their own ideal school.
