ARE you ready for the sixth annual Maldon Oyster and Seafood Festival?

Tickets for the popular event will be on sale soon, Maldon District Council has announced.

The festival, on September 1, will once again be held at the ampitheatre in Promenade Park, Maldon, and will include the opportunity to sample oysters provided by the Maldon Oyster and Seafood Company.

There will also be a seafood buffet prepared by chefs from Five Lakes Hotel, Golf, Country Club and Spa in Tolleshunt Knights, and a licensed bar run by the proprietor of the Prince of Wales pub in Stow Maries which will also be sponsoring the entertainment.

Councillor John Archer, co-organiser of the event, said: "The oyster festival is gaining an excellent reputation and continues to grow in popularity each year, attracting visitors from far and wide, and I would urge people to purchase their tickets early."

Tickets, which will be on sale in the next few weeks, are £30 each and will be available from Maldon Tourist Information Centre in Wenlock Way, Maldon. Call 01621 856503.
