speedway: LAKESIDE Hammers star Zach Watjknecht is the 2018 British Masters Grasstrack champion after a flying performance in Cheshire.
The Hammers rider impressed throughout the weekend in Macclesfield and finished third in qualifying.
And he continued to improve throughout the meeting.
Watjknecht finished second in his semi-final before winning the final ahead of James Shanes, Andrew Appleton and fourth placed Paul Hurry - formerly of the Hammers.
*Lakeside Hammers’ match against the Peterborough Panthers in the Championship last Friday was postponed due to the bad weather.
