The AmD with Cobra Exhausts team secured a well-earned points finish in the Diamond Double race as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season resumed at Snetterton.

The West Thurrock-based outfit’s pair of Ollie Jackson and Sam Smelt impressed in wet weather.

Although it didn’t start well for Jackson with a crash and a back-of-the-grid start, he finished with a 11th place finish in the final race - which was worth double points.

Smelt’s best race of the season was also in the day’s final race, taking the flag in 18th spot.

Shaun Hollamby, AmD with Cobra Exhausts team principal, said: “It’s been a tough day for the Audis but it was great to see both Ollie and Sam put on such a strong showing in the final race of the weekend.”

Meanwhile, the AmD with AutoAid/RCIB Insurance Racing team salvaged a top ten finish at Snetterton.

Rory Butcher was joined by Ant Whorton-Eales for the Diamond Double meeting – but they struggled which featured an extended third race offering double points.

Whorton-Eales was 23rd place in race one before changeable conditions allowed him to showcase his talents with a fine drive through the field to take tenth spot and a well-earned points finish.

Having climbed as high as 13th in the final race, Whorton-Eales ended just half a second outside the points in 16th place.

Butcher was forced to retire in two of the day’s races, with a 23rd place finish all he had to show for his weekend’s effort.

Hollamby added: “Ant has done a fantastic job for us as a late substitute and to bring home a top ten finish when he hadn’t even driven the car before was brilliant.”
