THE Maldon in Bloom team had a busy week judging the different categories for the group’s annual competition.

Residents, schools, playgrounds, businesses and community organisations took part in this year’s event, which saw the team going up and down the entire town viewing gardens and displays.

The team have thanked those who took part and will be sharing the results of the competition in the coming days.

Doreen Linton, chairman of the group, said: “The team are busy finalising various projects for 2018.

“In St Peter’s Churchyard, the sunflowers are growing quickly and Maldon Pioneers have planted the new raised bed.

“At Longfields, the seedlings in the wild flower meadow are now taking a distinct shape so that they are easier to identify. And, the team continues to clear ‘grot spots’ around the town.

“We would like to thank all those who have volunteered to help with the projects. Next week, we hope to confirm the route for the Anglia in Bloom judges’ visit on July 16.

“We hope that we will receive the same support from residents, shops and venues in making their ‘space’ look the best for the judges.”
