PLANS for 200 homes in Maldon have been unveiled on a parcel of land which is part of a 1,000-house development.

Taylor Wimpey bought part of the South Maldon Garden Suburb site last year.

Now the developer has submitted a “reserved matters” application for 200 homes on land off Wycke Hill.

Of the homes to be built, 83 will be affordable.

A spokesman for Taylor Wimpey said: “We have submitted a reserved matters planning application for 200 homes on land off Wycke Hill, Maldon.

"The land is part of the eastern parcel of the South Maldon Garden Suburb development site known as Limebrook Park."

“This application comprises the first phase of our proposals and is a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes along the Fambridge Road frontage.

“If our plans are approved by Maldon District Council, we hope to start work before the end of 2018.

“We look forward to working with the council, wider stakeholders and the local community to deliver this impressive garden suburb.”

The South Maldon project is made up of a development of up to 1,000 homes south of Limebrook Way, 320 homes on a site called Wycke Hill North and up to 120 homes on Wycke Hill South.

The application said: “The site has been the subject of numerous discussions with Maldon District Council, Essex County Council and other relevant stakeholders for a number of years.

"In late 2017, the eastern parcel of the site, now known as Limebrook Park East was sold to Taylor Wimpey.”

The reserved matters application sets out the design and appearance of the homes.
