A MUM from Cold Norton has made it to the final of a national business awards competition.

Mum of two Sarah Parkman has reached the final line-up of the Mpower National Business Awards, which celebrate parents throughout the UK who managed the difficult task of juggling business with family life.

Mrs Parkman is the founder of Made by Plumb, and designs and makes handcrafted jewellery pieces inspired by love and kindness with many of her designs serving as emotional “anchors” for her clients.

As well as being shortlisted for this category, she is also in with a chance of winning the title of Mpower Woman of the Year 2018, which will be awarded to the mum who is an inspiration to all women in business.

Mrs Parkman said: “I was both shocked and over the moon when I realised I’d made the finals.

“One of my main motivators is to show my children, by example, that they should follow their dreams in life.

“The Mpower National Business Awards represent a coming together of amazing women all over the country and I feel honoured to be a part of it.”

Judging Mrs Parkman’s entry will be a panel of top parent entrepreneurs, with the winners being announced on June 23 at The Mpower Gala, being held at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury in London.

Nicola Huelin, founder of the Mpower Awards, said: “There are a lot of awards out there, and we are proud about what makes these awards, and the women who enter, different.

“Often invisible to most, mums in business are changing the business landscape, while raising and inspiring the generations of the future.

“We believe their efforts and successes in overcoming the unique challenges of combining business and motherhood, particularly in those first few years when it’s the hardest, need to be recognised and celebrated.”
