GROUPS can apply for a new grant to help improve the health of people in the district.

MALDON District Council has launched a new grant to help with health-related costs in the community.

The Maldon Livewell Partnership Grant scheme for 2018-19 is a scheme funded by Essex County Council Public Health.

It is available to not-for-profit organisations and community groups to help improve health and wellbeing across the district.

The money available for funding projects and activities is £10,000.

Issues needing to be tackled across the district are obesity, mental health, ageing population needs such as lonliness, increased physical activity, healthy eating and fall prevention.

Councillor Bob Boyce said: “The Livewell Partnership Grant Fund is a great opportunity for not for profit organisations and community groups to apply for funding that will impact the health and wellbeing of the residents of the Maldon district.

“This grant scheme helps deliver our goal to promote healthy life styles and support an ageing population.”

The bid can be for small or large amounts to include capital and/or revenues projects but no building works which cost more than £5,000.

The deadline to submit expressions of interest is Friday, May 25.
