The Southminster Operatic and Choral Society will be putting on a show next week.

They will be performing “A Hundred and One Not Out” from Thursday, May 10 to Saturday, May 12 at the Southminster Memorial Hall.

The play, written by Richard J. Reeves, is a musical set backstage at the Savoy Theatre, during a rehearsal for the Mikado.

It tells the story of the collaboration between Gilbert and Sullivan and Richard D’Oyly Carte and includes songs from each of their operettas.

It was first performed at Benfleet Methodist Church in 1976, one year after the centenary of the first Gilbert and Sullivan production, hence the name.

Tickets are available from Box office at Lily Sage in Southminster, The Limes Farm Shop and Creative Lady in Burnham-on-Crouch.

Thursday and Friday are evening performances which start at 7.30pm and the Saturday matinee performance starts at 2.30pm.

Ticket prices range from £8 to £10 for adults and £5 for children under 11.
