THIS week community is at the heart of a number of stories in the Standard.
Little Rosie Day, five, and her family have always thanked the kind people of our district who have supported them as she waited for a lifesaving heart transplant.
After the operation back in 2016 our community has continued to support her.
This week the Morrisons Foundation, set up by the supermarket chain, handed £300,000 to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity.
The charity had helped support Rosie’s family with accommodation while she spent more than 100 days in the hospital waiting for a transplant.
Rosie’s father Barry, who works for Morrisons in Witham, said the donation will be invaluable to other families who need support.
Elsewhere Suzie’s Gift & Tea Shop was amazed after people from across Maldon came forward to help them in their hour of need.
The cafe lost hundreds of pieces of crockery after an accident, but within days they were back on track after generous donations.
It shows true community spirit.
