A GROUP of senior citizens were given advice from policing during a meeting at The Paddocks on Canvey.

The audience were part of Age Concern, who gather for leisure activities.

Sgt Mark McQuade presented a 30-minute speech around crime patterns and crime prevention. Particular attention was paid to scams and rogue traders. If senior citizens are worried about making contact with contractors in order to get some work completed, they can contact the Community Policing team who will assist.

Sgt McQuade added: “Age Concern are trying to raise money for a laptop to assist their work. They are still using paper due to their very old one which isn’t serviceable. I am pleading on their behalf for a free donation or a local business to donate for potential sponsorship etc.

“All contact re this and any other issues community can come through me at the Community Policing Team at Rayleigh via the 101 service.”
