FINGERLESS gloves, lots of neon, and even a marriage proposal – that is what went on at the 80s night hosted by Plume Academy.

Plume Academy's Parent Voice put on its first event with the aim to raise money to support the educational facilities of the school.

On Saturday, March 24, party goers danced the night away from 8pm until Midnight at the Fambridge Road campus.

They had a themed band called 'Electric Heart 80s' who played various iconic tunes featuring Whitney Houston, Madonna and the Flashdance film soundtrack.

There was even a wedding proposal where Nicola Hodgetts, with the help of her friends, spelt out the question in balloons as she got on stage and asked her fiancé to marry here, to which Andrew McClaine said ‘yes’.

The night was a ‘great success’, and raised £1500 which will go towards resources for the academy.

A spokesman for the academy said that they are aiming for this to be just the first of many such events organised by the group for years to come.

Members of the public who are interested in future events can attend the next meeting at Fambridge Road campus, Plume Academy on Wednesday, April 25 at 7pm.
