A MALDON recruitment team have ran another successful campaign to help homeless people in Essex with two cars full of clothing donations.

The Maldon branch of Cordant People have ran their “donate a duvet” campaign, enlisting the help of several district based businesses to donate duvets, sleeping bags and other clothing items to a refuge centre.

The chosen centre this time was Sanctus, based in Chelmsford, who offer food and shelter to homeless people in the city and guidance on how to improve their lives.

The charity are constantly seeking more volunteers and donations, especially winter clothing during the colder months.

Lauren Curtling, senior consultant for Cordant People in Maldon, said: “We have run another campaign from our Maldon branch and again the response from local companies has been fantastic!

I didn’t know if this would be of interest: we wanted to support Sanctus, a day refuge in Chelmsford, they need as much publicity as they can get and hopefully they will secure some volunteers/donations (they really need to get some marketing banners made up) and winter clothes are another requirement!

Again, I found myself well and truly humbled by the generosity of the people around me. In typical “Lauren fashion” I decided very last minute, following the huge success of our foodbank collection before Christmas to run a further campaign to support a local day shelter for the homeless based in Chelmsford.

In the lead up to February 17, National Kindness Day, we hit the phones to contact businesses in the local area, asking if companies or individuals would be kind enough to donate items of clothing such as jumpers, jackets, socks, trousers, hats and scarves along with duvets and sleeping bags.

“Everyone got stuck in and really rallied round to get together their donations in such a short space of time!

“I delivered two car loads packed full of donations from businesses - all I can say is thank you once again for your amazing, breath-taking support - you have really made a difference to those who appreciate it.

“A massive thank you to AWA Building Services Consultants, Marmi Natural Stone, Vanguard Logistics Services, Green Recycling Ltd, Chelmsford Safety Supplies, Never What If Group Ltd, Pharoah Fencing Ltd and William Trade Supplies.

“Take a bow because today you gave back and made a difference.”
