A CHOIR in Maldon has celebrated its tenth anniversary this week.

The Choir of St Mary’s Church, Maldon will be marking their tenth birthday this Sunday with a powerful performance.

They gave their very first performance on January 27, 2008.

This Sunday, the choir will be singing Palestrina’s Missa Aeterna Christi Munera at the 10am Parish Eucharist in the church which overlooks the River Blackwater.

In the ten years since the choir’s formation, it has toured extensively in Italy, France, Germany and the USA.

In the UK, the choir has sung in Truro, St David’s, Newcastle and all the East Anglian cathedrals, as well as at Westminster Abbey and St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

The choir are welcoming everyone to come along and celebrate their impressive milestone on Sunday.

Following the service, there will be a short birthday party with all members in the Octagon.
