Essex County Council has received an offering of £32,000 for offering their country park to film the latest Mission Impossible.

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise came to Brentwood's famous Thorndon Country in September to film Mission Impossible 6: Rogue Nation for a few days.

His arrival has attracted thousands of fans waiting to see their favourite actor.

Production on the sixth film in the franchise, was forced to go on hiatus while Cruise recovered from a broken ankle earlier this year.

He suffered the injury during the filming of a stunt for the film but the release date of the film will not change. The film will be released in July 2018.

A spokesman for Essex Country Parks said: “The money raised by filming will be used to support the maintenance and development of our country parks helping more visitors to enjoy these beautiful natural resources.

"We did not promote the site to the filmmakers, in this case they came to us after location scouts visited the Thorndon Country Park and saw what a fantastic location it made for their film.

"It’s not something that happens every day but we were pleased to welcome the glitz and glamour of Hollywood to one of our country parks for a short time in September.”
