A developer has submitted new plans for 90 homes near the A414 after initial plans for 140 homes were rejected.
Gladman Developments has put in a planning application for homes on land east of Runsell View and north of Maldon Road in Danbury.
Last year Chelmsford City Council refused plans for 140 homes on the same site saying it was in the countryside, would damage nearby areas of special scientific interest and would impact the A414.
Hands Off Danbury launched a battle against the bid and more than 700 residents objected.
Gladman subsequently appealed this decision and a hearing is due to take place on the plans in January next year.
Last week the developer submitted new plans for 90 homes on the land.
The planning statement said: “As with any greenfield site, the development will introduce changes to the area and some urbanising effects.
"Care has been taken to ensure that the perceived impact on Danbury is minimised and acceptable.”
A planning meeting will take place in February.
