I THINK it is wonderful our area is being seen more and more as a tourist attraction.

A short break in the open countryside with the riverside attractions is made all the more appealing when it can be accessed by train or car in just over an hour from busy towns and the city.

But I fear this will all be lost to future generations if the Bradwell B Nuclear Power Station is built.

They say it will take 25, 000 people to build it. It will obviously be large and noisy and roads will have to be upgraded to cope.

And it will stick out like a sore thumb on any map.

Why would people want to visit the area then? Also why would people want to buy Maldon Sea Salt or wine from our vineyards or our Oysters?

Why bother putting money into these projects that are featured so often in this newspaper?

Also why bother to make the River Blackwater a Marine Conservation Area, when it obviously has no effect to protect?

And why promote the Wallasea Wetland Bird sanctuary?

Tourism is not only good for the wellbeing of people it is also good for the economy and creates many enjoyable jobs (as opposed to working with nuclear).

There was once the New Nuclear Build Policy that stated that one couldn’t be built near a historic building (St Peter’s on the Wall?) or in an area that has important marine life. What about us humans.
