I READ with interest the two replies to the letter by Ingrid PriceGschlossl.

Whilst I agree with the point that Mr A Hill and RJ and SR Hawkins put across that boat building has largely gone - which is a sad thing - I cannot see how pulling down sheds to put up houses would preserve a boat firm.

My concern over this application is, if they succeed in applying to build these houses, why did the people of this town turn out and vote for a neighbourhood and local development plan that prevents mass overdevelopment in this town?

One other issue that seems to get overlooked if this development went through - the traffic increase of cars of resident’s and visitors coming from these houses would have to come out into the high street which is congested enough at times.

One last point that RJ and SR Hawkins made that ‘Burnham needs to welcome its change in status’ I have always found the people of this town to be very welcoming.

I hardly think we need even more houses to enhance that - especially when people usually move to Burnham to escape large towns.

I would like to know who this development would benefit - I doubt the people who live in the high street would benefit from more disruption and traffic issues.
